We already mentioned the symbiosis between Gabicce Mare and the Adriatic sea. Local history and traditions are tied to the sea and tourism lives out of this synergy through beaches and nearby resorts. What still needs being mentioned, though, is that from the sea comes another basic resource making Gabicce a special sea town: cuisine based on fish recipes. Gabicce Mare is rich with restaurants where fish is served caught in the Adriatic by hardworking fishermen, who weigh anchor in the night hoping to come back with their nets filled with tasty treasures. Restaurants in Gabicce make people drool with their always and rigorously fresh fish, cooked based on traditional recipes which however renew according to contemporary taste. Seafood is accompanied by products of the earth, by putting for example a good dish of anchovy near a glass of white wine coming from the vineyards that dress St. Bartolo mountain. However, the idea of enjoying a good meal, in Gabicce, is not limited just to the quality of dishes and of their preparation. It is through a magic communion that the senses of taste and smell are joined by eyesight, so that while comfortably sitting at table, one can enjoy the breathtaking panorama facing all restaurants, whether it is the sea just a few steps away or the natural landscape along the St. Bartolo mountain roads. Even hearing is involved, in the relaxing calm characterizing the environment in Gabicce. The importance of anchovy in the local gastronomic tradition will be celebrated, starting in 2020, with the first edition of a festival dedicated to this seafood speciality; an additional, inviting reason to taste this delicacy within the splendid frame of Gabicce Mare.
